Introducing the New Head of School

Ms Karen McCulla

The Board of Brockton is very pleased to announce that a search process that began several months ago has reached a successful conclusion.  Commencing July 1, 2014, the next Head of School of Brockton will be Ms. Karen McCulla, M.Ed., B.Ed., B.Sc. (Honours).

Karen is a passionate and well-respected educator and leader. She joins Brockton after spending the past twelve years with Crofton House in Vancouver, the last nine as their Director of the Senior School. Prior to that, Karen held various teaching and leadership positions in a number of respected educational institutions both locally and abroad.  She comes to Brockton with a strong and proven track record in education.  She is described by others as hard working, intelligent, inclusive, fair and a visionary leader.  Karen is committed to the concept of educating the whole child and recognizes the significance of attending to each student as a unique learner.  Without diminishing the outstanding work of those before her at Brockton, we believe that Karen is a great fit for Brockton and is a leader who can guide the school through the next exciting chapter of its journey.  A brief bio of Karen can be found here.

The Board thanks the members of the search committee for their efforts and the members of the broader Brockton community for their patience throughout this process.  Finally, the Board wishes to specifically thank and recognize our current Head Alison for her ongoing tireless efforts to guide, grow, and develop Brockton, particularly during these past few months.

Brockton World Music Program

Brockton’s World Music Program provides a context for students to develop interest, curiosity and enjoyment in their own musical creativity and that of others.  It is an integral part of the music curriculum for all students in the Upper School.  Through this program students have had the opportunity to perform both locally and internationally.  In 2010 the students were selected to perform at the ISME conference in Beijing and in 2012 they were invited to Thessaloniki to perform again at the ISME conference and to participate in a performance tour around Greece.
