About Brockton

Brockton Preparatory School was established in 2004 by a group of North Vancouver parents whose shared vision for Brockton is that of a non-denominational school where a rigorous academic education is balanced by arts and athletics in an environment where merit rather than materialism is the core value.

The school offers a full-day Kindergarten (8:15 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) and Grades 1 through 9 (8:15 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.).  A licenced After School Care programme is available for students up to age 13. Brockton also offers a mornings-only School Bus service for its students.

At Brockton, we focus on the quality of the daily school experience, positive academic outcomes for students en route to post-secondary studies, the development of students’ personal integrity and character, and creating an inclusive community that welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds.

The school and its faculty work closely with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization. Brockton is an IB World School which has fully integrated both the IB Primary Years Programme (for grades K to 5) and the IB Middle Years Programme (for Grades 6 to 10) into its academic programme. The IB Diploma Programme will be implemented as Brockton expands to Grade 12 in future years.

Brockton’s strategic plan calls for the school to grow to a maximum of about 500 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, enabling Brockton to maintain its smaller-than-usual (even for an independent school) class sizes to support students’ academic achievement and personal growth, and retain its inclusive and welcoming school culture.

The school is operated by Brockton Preparatory School Society, a non-profit society established for this purpose. The society’s Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the school’s budget and physical plant, and seeing to the school’s overall financial well-being.

The administration of Brockton is delegated to Brockton’s Head of School, the school’s educational leader, who bears primary responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of all academic and extra-curricular school programs. The Head of School reports to the Board, provides the Board with professional guidance in setting general educational policies, and is responsible for the administration of Brockton in accordance with those policies.
