News »Brockton World Music Program invited to perform in Greece!Posted on October 19, 2011Brockton School’s World Music Program has been chosen by the International Performance Selection Committee of the ISME (International Society of Music Education) to represent Canada at the 30th World Conference on Music Education in Thessaloniki, Greece. We are very honored that the World Music Program at Brockton has once again been selected to represent Canada at this event (we represented Canada in China in 2010). Concerts performed by ensembles are extremely important as a way to share the music of different genres, styles and cultures during the conference. The selection of performing groups is made in accordance with ISME policies on musical and cultural diversity, and aims to offer delegates the opportunity to broaden their musical experience. Priority is given to demonstrably high standard amateur groups, young performers and groups working in, or emerging from, an educational context. As in China 2010, we will be sharing the stage with high-school, post-secondary and professional groups from around the world, many of whom have enjoyed successful international performing careers for decades. We are thrilled to be able to offer our MYP music students this unique opportunity and we know they will be great ambassadors for Brockton School and Canada. |
