Letter from Canadian Embassy, Beijing

August 8, 2010

Dear Paige and Adrian,

I wanted to follow up with you to let you know how very impressed I was with the performance, creativity, and enthusiasm of the Brockton World Music Ensemble performance. The dedication of the teachers and the commitment of the students to the work was palpable. I loved the Steve Reich-inspired drumming, the interplay between teachers and students, and the heartfelt and age-appropriate expressions of gratitude that were conveyed in the work.

It’s so important for kids to have the opportunity to express themselves creatively. You have provided that — and the confidence that naturally comes with this type of empowerment and self-expression — in abundance.

It would be great to have your introduction and the text translated when you are performing in Shanghai, but I know that could be difficult on short notice.

All the best for continued success and creativity!

Kindest regards,

Ivy
