Brockton Parent Community
Parent involvement is key to Brockton’s culture. It validates for the child the parents’ choice of school ["I believe this school is the best school for you"]. Although Brockton is not a “parent participation” school, there are many volunteer opportunities available for those parents who are interested. The Brockton Parent Community (BPC) is the umbrella committee enabling parents and caregivers to get involved at Brockton. The BPC welcomes new families to Brockton, offers opportunities for all families to contribute to the development and enhancement of the school, and provides role models for the students in promoting community service. BPC activities range from organizing events to helping in the classroom and doing minor ‘fix-it’ jobs through the BPC’s ‘handyman’ arm, the Building subcommittee. Parents choosing Brockton have made a choice to be involved in their children’s education. Working together is a great way to make new friends, and to show children that a communal sense of social responsibility provides great rewards. |
